Discover Braga, the capital of Roman Gallaecia and the Suevic Kingdom, a bimillennial
city where past and present intertwine. Known as the “Portuguese Rome” for its countless churches and Baroque splendor, Braga blends religious history, monumental architecture, and a vibrant young population.

The tour begins at Porta Nova, one of the city’s historic gates and a symbol of its centuries-long significance. From here, we explore the historic center, wandering narrow streets, lively squares, and monuments that tell stories of centuries past. We will visit Braga Cathedral (Sé de Braga), a symbol of faith and episcopal power through the ages. Here, Bishop and Saint S. Martinho de Dume played a pivotal role in converting the Suevi to Christianity, leaving a lasting mark on the Iberian Peninsula.

Along the way, we’ll discover Roman and Templar remains, as well as landmarks preserved by D. Diogo de Sousa, a pioneer in safeguarding Braga’s Roman heritage. We’ll admire Manueline windows at the Palácio dos Coimbras and the Baroque richness of works by Braga’s master architects: André Soares and Carlos Amarante.

Every step reveals legends, traditions, and the stories that shaped the city.

By the end of the tour, you’ll see Braga with fresh eyes: a historical and religious capital, rich in Manueline and Baroque architecture, marked by Templar and Roman heritage and the genius of great architects, yet alive and modern — a city ready to be discovered around every corner
